THE ARTIST
In Early 2014 in found myself deeply immersed in my renewed love for Art.
Mario Holder is a Barbadian Artist whose work is express mainly through the medium of acrylic on canvas .
His work is inspired mostly by the Natural world, to be more specific plants, humans amongst Natural landscapes.
In 2013 , The whole trajectory of my life shifted after Breaking my neck and damaging my spinal cord , the recovery and healing became my number concern and part of that process included healing not just on a physical level but also emotionally.
Painting played a huge role on getting that stuck unexpressed stress out and it brought me back into a feeling of safety and confidence back into my life.
The desire to just be, in nature, in a forest somewhere was what my body and mind craved the most and while i couldn't physically be there in found that i could create that feeling in my own mind and i could bring what was on my mind on to canvas.
Mario as a writer
My love for writing was initiated by my English teacher in secondary school after failing my qualification exams for cxc. That failure sent me on a journey becoming the best I my class next semester.
However the journey to becoming an author wasn’t until a few years later where journaling and attempting to understand myself better for the sake of my healing became my number one concern. I was awaken to knowledge that was bursting at the seams for me to share but felt was silenced for its counterintuitive nature.
At age 24 I had completed the first draft of my first book undeniable resilience, it was both a catharsis and an offering to my younger self and I felt like it was the most important thing that I could share at the time to play my part in the world.
